The U.S. Department of Education provides a variety of financial aid programs to help students and their families pay for college or career school. The Office of Federal Student Aid awards more than $150 billion every year in grants, loans, and work-study funds.

To be eligible for Federal Student Aid programs, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year. Final eligibility is determined by the higher education institution you attend.

All federal financial aid programs require students to meet the general eligibility requirements.
